Redoubt Aps (“we”, “our”, or “us”) operates mobile applications (each an “App”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use any of our Apps.
Analytics Data. We use Mixpanel and Apple Analytics to collect anonymised usage data such as screen views, feature interactions, device type, operating system version, and app version. This data helps us understand how our Apps are used and improve the experience.
Device Identifiers. We may collect non-personal device identifiers (e.g., IDFV) for analytics purposes. We do not collect the Advertising Identifier (IDFA) unless explicitly disclosed within a specific App.
Purchase Data. If an App offers subscriptions or in-app purchases, payment is handled entirely by Apple; we never receive your payment details. To manage subscriptions and unlock purchased features we use RevenueCat, which receives your purchase history (the products you bought and their status) together with an anonymous app user identifier. RevenueCat does not receive the content you create in an App, such as health readings or notes. If you install an App after tapping an Apple Ads advertisement, Apple's AdServices framework provides RevenueCat with anonymous attribution data (such as the campaign and search keyword) so we can measure which ads lead to subscriptions; this data is not linked to your identity and is not used to track you across other companies' apps or websites.
Apple Health (HealthKit). Some Apps, such as Blood Pressure Log+, can connect to Apple Health if you turn this on. The App then reads and writes the health data types you approve (for Blood Pressure Log+: blood pressure and heart rate) in Apple Health on your device. You choose which data types to share and can change this at any time in the Health app or in iOS Settings. Data from Apple Health stays on your device: it is never sent to us or to any third party, including the analytics and purchase services listed below, and it is never used for advertising, marketing or data mining, or sold.
Photos and AI Identification (Bug Identifier). When you scan a photo in Bug Identifier, the photo and a text instruction are sent over an encrypted connection through our server at bugscan.app (hosted by Vercel) to Google’s Gemini API, which analyses the photo and returns the identification. If you photograph a bite or sting, the photo may show part of your skin. We do not store your photos on our servers and do not use them for advertising. Google processes the photo under its Gemini API terms for paid services, which do not use it to improve Google’s products; Google may keep it for a limited time to detect abuse. When a photo contains no recognisable bug, our server records a short anonymous text description of what the photo shows (for example “blurry dark room”) in our analytics, without the photo or any identifier of you, so we can improve recognition. Your saved results and photos stay on your device.
Location (Bug Identifier). If you allow location access, the “Bugs Near You” feature converts your position into a city and region name on your device and sends only that name to the Gemini API to list common bugs in your area. Your exact coordinates are not sent to us or to Google. You can turn location access off at any time in iOS Settings.
Website Analytics (bugscan.app). Our website uses Mixpanel (EU data residency, routed through our own domain) to count page views and clicks on the App Store button. Each event includes the page address, page title and referring page, plus the approximate location (country and city) that Mixpanel derives from your IP address. The website is cookieless: nothing is stored in your browser (no cookies or local storage), each visit is counted separately, and we do not track you across other websites. If your browser sends a “Do Not Track” signal, no analytics events are sent. Our host, Vercel, processes standard server logs (such as IP address and browser type) to deliver and protect the site.
Information You Provide. If an App includes features like accounts, forms, or support requests, we may collect the information you voluntarily provide (e.g., name, email address). The specific data collected will be described within that App.
Our Apps may use the following third-party services that collect data on our behalf:
If a specific App integrates additional third-party services, this will be noted within that App or in an App-specific addendum.
Analytics data is retained for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes described above. If you request deletion of your personal data, we will honour that request within 30 days.
We implement reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Our Apps are not directed at children under 13 (or the applicable age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have collected data from a child, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or port your personal data, or to object to or restrict its processing. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the address below.
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), our legal basis for processing personal data is our legitimate interest in improving our Apps and, where applicable, your consent. Data may be processed outside your country of residence where our service providers operate.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of our Apps after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
